Norwegian Cultural Events in New York

Sondre Lerche performing in New York, Norwegian acts confirmed to South By Southwest Festival and an interactive performance on the Lower East Side of Manhattan! These are some of the Norway related events in the upcoming week.

Sondre Lerche to perform at American Songbook

Sondre Lerche will play a special concert as a part of the American Songbook series of concerts. The performance will feature a string quartet, band and songs from his entire songbook. Lerche is one of the most intriguing young singer-songwriters working today, melding jazzy folk and punchy pop sounds with an engaging melodic instinct, and vivid lyricism. After early success in his native Norway (named Best New Artist at the Norwegian Grammys), Lerche moved to New York in 2005 and quickly built on his reputation for beautifully crafted songs delivered in an outgoing, immediate style.Read more >

Enslaved US Tour
	The progressive black metal band Enslaved heads out on an extensive North American tour in January 2013. The will round up this tour in New York February 22. at Bowery Ballroom. Read more >

Norwegian acts at SXSW 2013

Bernhoft, Marit Larsen and Karpe Diem are just some of the Norwegian acts scheduled to perform at the world’s largest industry festival in Austin, TX, March 8-12, 2013. Norwegian bands have for several years made a strong showing at the South By Southwest Festival (SXSW) in Austin, Texas. With more than 13,000 industry representatives in attendance, the festival is a great opportunity to promote Norwegian music abroad. Read more >

	EAT is an ongoing interactive performance by Kurt Johannessen, presented by NOoSPHERE Arts on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. The artist Kurt Johannessen is a pioneer in the field of Norwegian performance art. There will be an opening reception Friday, Feb 8, 6‐8pm.Read more >

Nobel Peace Prize Forum in Minneapolis
	The 25th annual Nobel Peace Prize Forum—a conference that celebrates the importance, consequence, and controversy of Nobel Peace Prize Laureates—is March 8-10 in Minneapolis, on the campuses of Augsburg College and the University of Minnesota West Bank. Peace Prize Winners Muhammad Yunus and Tawakkol Karman are some of the speakers that will attend the annual event. Read more >

Munch Reflection – a concert in NYC

For the very first time pianist and composer Aksel Kolstad will perform one his small Edvard Munch concert-reflections through a musical and creative perspective in NYC. The concert reflects his interpretation of Edvard Munch's art and paintings. Kolstad makes music that accompanies Munch`s art and tells stories inspired from the parts of Munch`s life seldom told. The material is based on stories written by Christine Munch, a decendant from Edvard himself.Read more >

The 16th Annual Ibsen Festival, Commonweal Theatre in Lanesboro Minnesota
	The 16th Annual Ibsen Festival is featuring a world premiere adaptation by Jeffrey Hatcher of Ibsen’s groundbreaking masterpiece A Doll's House.
